- Get For dough
- Prepare 2 cup wheat flour
- Get 1/4 cup curd
- Make ready 1/2 tsp sugar

- Make ready 2 boiled and mashed potatoes

- Get 2 tsp ghee

- Take 1/2 tsp dhaniya ( coriander)powder
- Take 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Get 1/4 tsp amchur (dry mango)powder
- Make ready to taste Salt
- Make ready 4-5 tsp ghee for shallow frying
We will steam the Bafla instead of boiling otherwise their stuffing will burst out. For steaming, take a big utensil where a plate-like sieve can fit. The dough used to make dal bafla in Madya Pradesh or dal baati in Rajasthan is the same but in Rajasthan, the baati is baked, the bafla is boiled then baked. Traditionally the batti was deep-fried too but only for special occasions.
Instructions to make Steamed Bafla Baati:
- Knead a normal dough like chapati with the given ingredients and keep aside for 20 mins.
- Heat ghee in a pan,add jeera, ginger and green chilli followed by mashed potatoes, peas and all spices.
- Mix everything well and make small loyis of dough. Fill in the mixture and seal the edges of a dough.
- Heat water in a vessel. Grease your steamer plate or whatever you have. Keep these baatis in a diatance in steamer and steam for 2mins on high and 15mins on sim
- After steaming, heat ghee again in a pan,flatten the baatis with your hand slightly and roast them till crispy!
- Serve hot with any chutney or even with tea as a snack!
- We can either use only potatoes or only peas. I like both so i hv used both the ingredients for stuffing*
