The ingredients needed to make Steam Idli:
- Get 3 cups ukra rice
- Get 1 cup urad dal
- Take As needed Little water to adjust consistency
- Get 2 tbsp oil and little for greasing
- Make ready 1 regular eno
- Get Pinch baking soda
- Take as per taste Salt
Idli is a traditional breakfast made in every South Indian household including mine. Idli is popular not only in the whole of India but outside India too. Grease the idli stand with oil and take a ladleful of batter and fill the idli mould. Add ½ cup of water in the idli steamer and let it boil.

- Soak rice and dal separately for 7-8 hours
- Grind it separately and mix well
- Ferment it.
- While making add water, salt, eno, baking soda
- Add oil in it, mix well
- Grease the idli mould with oil and add batter in it
- Steam it for 15 minutes
Grease the idli stand with oil and take a ladleful of batter and fill the idli mould. Add ½ cup of water in the idli steamer and let it boil. Put the idli stand inside and close the lid. Grease idli moulds with oil and pour batter over it. Check whether idlis are cooked or not by inserting a knife or a toothpick in the center of idli take it out.
