Jalebi, also known as Jilapi, zulbia, mushabak and zalabia, is a Middle Eastern sweet snack popular all over South and Western Asia. It is made by deep-frying maida flour (plain flour or all-purpose flour) batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar syrup. This dessert can be served warm or cold. Jalebi is not just a dessert, but even part of morning breakfast and evening snacks in several parts of India.

The ingredients needed to make Jalebi:
  1. Make ready 1 cup all purpose flour (maida)
  2. Take 1 tbsp baking soda
  3. Make ready pinch orange food colour
  4. Get 4 tbsp sour curd
  5. Prepare 2 cups sugar
  6. Prepare as required Water
  7. Get as required Oil

Remove from the heat and add the cardamom and lemon juice - the lemon juice prevents the sugar crystallising. How is jalebi made Traditionally it is made with a fermented batter of all purpose flour, gram flour (besan), baking soda and water. This fermented batter is then poured in concentric circles in hot oil and deep-fried. Then these fried spirals are soaked in sugar syrup for a few minutes and later served.

Instructions to make Jalebi:
  1. In a saucepan add 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water. Let the sugar dissolve. And cook it until it's single string consistency
  2. In a mixing bowl. Add maida, pinch of baking soda and curd. Add little by little water and mix it. Make a thick batter.Now add pinch of food colour and give a mix.
  3. In a sauce bottle pour the batter. I had taken a waste water bottle and hole on top.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan. Oil should not be in high heat…now with the help of bottle give the jalebi shape, fry it from both the sides
  5. After frying.Dip the jalebi into sugar syrup for 2-3 mins or until the sugar syrup absorb by jalebi.Serve juicy crispy jalebi
