It is made by deep-frying maida flour (plain flour or all-purpose flour) batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar syrup. This dessert can be served warm or cold. Jalebi is not just a dessert, but even part of morning breakfast and evening snacks in several parts of India.

The ingredients needed to make Jalebi:
  1. Take 200 grams Maida
  2. Get 1 tbsp Cornflour
  3. Make ready 1/4 tsp Orange colour

  7. Make ready Oil for deep frying
  8. Make ready 1/4 tsp Baking soda

  11. Prepare 1/4 th of sugar Water
  12. Take 1 pinch Saffron
  13. Make ready 2 Cardamom crushed
  14. Get 1/2 lemon Juice of

Remove from the heat and add the cardamom and lemon juice - the lemon juice prevents the sugar crystallising. Jalebi is one of the most popular desserts from Indian subcontinent. Similar to Gulab jamun, jalebi too makes its appearance during weddings, celebrations & festivals. Jalebi can be made for any festivals like Diwali, Holi & Eid.

Steps to make Jalebi:
  1. Add sugar and water in a pan and heat it. Add saffron and crushed cardamoms.
  2. Add lime juice when one string consistency is attained. Remove from heat. Keep aside.
  3. Add maida in a bowl. Add cornflour and curd.
  4. Add in colour and mix well. Add water and mix well.Remove all lumps. When done add baking soda and mix a bit.
  5. Pour the batter in ketchup bottle with a nozzle.
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Pipe out batter in circular shapes on medium low heat. Flip and cook. Remove from heat when done.
  7. Soak the jalebis in sugar syrup for 2 minutes. Remove from sugar syrup.
  8. Yummy jalebis are ready to serve.
