Now take it out and add the potatoes to the roasting pan. Cover with all the juices in the pan. Pop back in for about another 45-50 mins.

Pour the oil into a roasting tin, add the chicken and spread the herby crème fraîche all over it, inside and out. Carefully loosen the skin of the chicken as above, then push the cheese under the skin and massage it down so it completely covers the breasts and is pushed down to the legs. Rub the chicken all over with oil and season with salt and pepper. Scatter the garlic around the chicken and toss in the juices. Combine the seasoning, salt, mustard powder, garlic salt and black pepper; set aside.
